North East Cheer prepares for State Finals

Cecil County's First Regional Champions to compete on Wednesday

The North East Cheerleaders have had a very successful year. They followed up their winning performance at the UCBAC Championship by winning the Regional Championship and qualifying for the State Finals. It’s uncharted territory for any Cecil Cheer Squad as this is the first time a Cecil County High School has won the UCBAC or the Regional Title.

On Wednesday the Indians Cheer Team will travel again to Harford Community College to compete. This time they go in with the confidence of champions and have their eyes set on the State Championship.

Head Coach of the North East Cheer is Tori Gibson. Tori is a graduate of North East High School and was a NEHS Cheerleader. Tori attended Stevenson University for Nursing. We will have more on her Cecil County roots and the entire Cheer Team in our next issue of Cecil County Sport Weekly.

The Maryland Public Schools State Finals will be held at Harford College on Wednesday February 16 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The North East Squad is early in the lineup so make sure you get there by 6PM as each team will only go on the mats once. Tickets must be purchased online and will not be sold at the door, Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by clicking HERE.
